The Goerne Cup is a memorial tournament honoring Michael Goerne, a driven individual and dedicated lacrosse player who suddenly and tragically lost his life in February 2019 at age 37.

The New York Women’s Power Rankings are here, highlighting the Top 10 of 24 teams competing across ULAX leagues throughout the Empire State this summer. 🗽🥍

Top Cheddar takes the No. 1 spot after emerging from ULAX’s deep 11-team Buffalo field to capture the championship. Jokers check in at No. 2 after winning the NYC title and adding a Liberty Cup championship to their 2026 résumé, including a win over the reigning 2025 ULAX National Champion Wild Cards.

Rochester champion Big Dill lands at No. 3, followed by Nassau County champion South Shore Snipes at No. 4. Buffalo finalist Vengeance rounds out the Top 5.

Buffalo Clovers, East Coast Cougars, Goal Diggers, the bobs and Turf Monsters complete a Top 10 featuring teams from each of ULAX’s women’s markets across New York State.

With several of New York’s top teams earning Nationals bids, we’re hoping to see a strong Empire State contingent in Las Vegas for the ’27 ULAX National Championship — where some of these teams may finally get the chance to settle things on the field.

Rankings consider overall record, quality of wins, head-to-head results, strength of competition, margin of victory and playoff performance.

The New York Men’s Power Rankings are here, highlighting the Top 20 of 54 teams competing across ULAX leagues throughout the Empire State this summer. 🗽🥍

Canucks LC, 2025 National Championship runner-up, completed an undefeated run to capture the NYC title and finish No. 1 in New York. Iron Wings LC claimed the Buffalo Elite crown, while Riptide avenged its only regular-season loss by knocking off previously unbeaten Blue Cheese for the Suffolk County championship.

Nac Nation climbed from No. 15 at midseason to No. 5 after navigating a deep Westchester field to win the title, while Red Hook Boys jumped from No. 10 to No. 6 following a dominant Albany playoff run.

With Nationals bids earned by several of New York’s top teams, we’re hoping to see a strong Empire State contingent in Las Vegas for the ’27 ULAX National Championship - where some of these teams may finally get the chance to settle things on the field.

BYE WEEK ARE YOUR 2026 GOERNE CUP CHAMPIONS! 🏆

After years of making the trip to Aspen and coming up short, Denver-based Bye Week finally broke through, defeating the hometown Aspen Kings 7-6 in an overtime thriller to capture their first Goerne Cup title.

Bye Week finished the weekend 5-1, defeating Vail Lacrosse Club 7-4 in the semifinals before taking on Aspen for the championship. After four lead changes and a defensive stand by Aspen forced overtime, Preston Plume provided the heroics, streaking down the right side, shedding a defender and burying the game-winner top shelf to bring the Cup back to Denver.

The championship was a long time coming. Bye Week has been making the trip to Aspen for years in pursuit of the title, with many members of the team playing together for more than two decades.

Bye Week’s Team MVPs:

🧱 Ryan Elliot (Goalie) - Elliot stood on his head all tournament long, coming up big time and again throughout the weekend and helping keep Bye Week alive in key moments on their way to the title.

🔥 Max Abbott (Attack) - Led Bye Week in points while bringing fire and intensity to the offensive end throughout the tournament.

💪 Aaron Palys (Midfield/Attack) - With two players forced to withdraw before the tournament, Palys stepped into an unfamiliar role at attack after typically playing midfield and SSDM. He provided a steady presence on offense and helped fill an important need for the eventual champs.

The victory also earns Bye Week an automatic bid to the 2026 ULAX National Championship in Las Vegas, where they’ll have an opportunity to take on some of the top ULAX teams from around the country. 🎰🥍
